Neil on leave of absence

Please be advised that our caretaker Neil is current on a leave of absence and we have, therefore, arranged a temporary caretaker to take over his role as of today.

His name is Mohamed Abdelaziz and he will be on site from 8am-12pm Monday to Friday.

Please note Mohamed does not have access to the key storage at Regatta Point so if you require anyone to collect keys this will not be possible in the interim and you will need to make alternative arrangements and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Mohamed will continue to take parcels etc. and he can be contacted on the usual numbers of 07957 355 018 & 020 8568 5432 should you require his assistance.

Yours Sincerely,
Lyndsey

Directors’ Meeting 15th September 2015

The Directors of Regatta Point Freehold Limited met for a regular meeting in order to discuss various matters arising in the running of the building. The following are highlights of the discussions.

Representatives from HML Shaw were present.

  • Fire Enforcement Notice – tender for work to be carried out to comply with notice due back at end of September. Exceptional bill to be issued to residents, which is expected to be significant.
  • Internal decorations – Sauna work due to complete soon which allows progress on other items.
  • Caretaker phone – Neil now has a landline with message facilities and a signal booster in office so should be completely contactable.
  • HML Shaw service levels – poor service levels were discussed and a better understanding of what RPFL pays for was obtained. Improvements are anticipated once fire works are out of the way.
  • Service charges for 15/16 were discussed – especially significant insurance premium increase that is anticipated following the fire. Reluctantly directors agreed to 9% increase.

Campaign to object to boat

The following is a letter from a local boat owner to nearby residents asking you to join a campaign to object to a planning application.

Concerned River Users,

This is a campaign to register objection to a development on the river that will change the riverside environment for the worse.  The proposal with the Hounslow Borough Council planning is for a “Lawful Development Certificate for an Existing use”.  The application is for a residential house boat mooring (sui generis) meaning similar to the current occupier of the mooring, Herons. However the proposed House on Water (HoW) is more than five times the size of Herons by volume, and so different that it could not be considered sui generis. In fact on some tides it will not float at all.

HoW air draft of 5.6 m (Herons 3.46 m) and beam of 7.6 m (Herons 4.32 m) – a clear two metres above the roof of Herons being further exacerbated by the proposal to place the HoW on an horizontal campshed grid which will extend the proposed HoW some 12.2 m out from the river bank into the river.  Moreover, this campshed grid is itself standing some 0.7 m above the height of the river bed.  A House on Water with these towering proportions blocks the magnificent views up and down the river for all.

Above all, the proposed placing of the HoW is to the significant detriment and enjoyment of all other moorings’ users, flats overlooking the river, walkers on the Thames Path, not only to due to its huge size, but that it is completely inappropriate within the context of the moorings at The Hollows.

To get an idea of the visual impact of this proposed HoW have a look at the scaled perspectives attached showing how the outline changes the outlook on the river.

P.S. the design guidelines for permanently moored boats at Corney Reach as drawn up by the Hounslow Director of Planning and Transport are mandatory and require that all boats on those moorings are boats and not HoWs, and that the maximum air draft permitted is 4 metres (13.1 feet).  They also state that it is important that boats do not overly obscure the view of the river from the development (the pontoon) or from the riverside walkway.

Walk & Talk

It is one of the pleasures of being a Director of Regatta Point that once a month we walk around the whole complex with our caretaker, Neil, in order to see for ourselves the state of the building close-up and to talk about any issues that we find.  We call this a Walk & Talk.  It allows us some quality time with Neil and to get into all the nooks and crannies of RP.

The Directors would like as many residents as possible to see the building from top to bottom for themselves and to get to see the Directors and Caretaker at work.

The next Walk & Talk is on Thursday the 13th of August at 09:00 in the lobby.  If you would like to join us – two places are to be provided on a first come first served basis and they are reserved by emailing webadmin@regattapoint.co.uk

We hope to see you there.
