St George’s Liaison meeting

On Friday the 5th of June George Cross (RP Director), Mo Bowyer (RP resident) and Sean Chappell (St. George’s Snr. Construction Manager) held one of their regular liaison meetings – the aim of which is for Regatta Point to raise any issues with the development next door and for St George’s to keep us abreast with progress.

The following are highlights of the meeting:

  • George thanked Sean for St George’s support in co-ordinating with RP’s Helifix remedial works even though they were deemed unnecessary in the end.
  • The crane is scheduled to be removed on the 27th of July. This is a Monday and will be executed from within the St George’s site, which removes the need for weekend working and road closures.
  • The opening up of the main archway to public use will be delayed until all large deliveries to site have been completed. This is in order to minimise the risk of mixing heavy good delivery, cars and pedestrians in that area.
  • Plans to completely re-surface the public pavement, re-position services, relocate bus stops further back in the pavement and narrow the pavement by a metre in order to provide a cycle lane are being finalised. They will not be carried out until September when alternative pathways for pedestrians will be available because of the completion of ground works in the block next to RP.
  • The tall, overgrown, trees and bushes next to RP wall are to be removed in September and replaced by low-level shrubs.  Security is to be maintained by the implementation of gates at the roadside and riverside end of the development that will be locked overnight with key codes issued to St George’s residents and some boat owners. This area is expected to be open by September.
  • There are only 20 units left to sell. Once these are sold the marketing suite building can be demolished. This work is already being put out to tender.
  • The completion of the rest of the roadside site is expected to be spring/summer 2016.
  • One of the commercial units is under offer – no details.

Next meeting Thursday 17th September 08:30am.

Lift C Out of Order

As residents in block C will be aware – the lift is out of action.  This is because the infra-red sensor finally gave up the ghost on Wednesday and could not be repaired.  The unit is no longer made so we have had to order a new type of sensor.  This will be fitted as soon as possible and we hope that it will be done by Friday.

Annual Summer BBQ celebrates Alice in Wonderland

Who would believe it – it’s 150 years since Alice in Wonderland was published.  To celebrate this occasion we are dedicating this year’s Summer BBQ to Alice and all of Wonderland.

The BBQ will take place on the pier and start at 6pm on Saturday the 25th of July.  It’s usually a very busy affair with plenty of people attending.  All residents, past and present plus the friends and relatives are invited.

Bring your own food – we supply a welcome drink, plates, cutlery, napkins, somewhere to chill your drinks, relish and, of course, the BBQs.

There’s a bottle of champagne to win for the best Alice in Wonderland costume and another bottle on offer the the hotly contested Pudding Competition – this year’s theme being Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

Any questions – talk to Neil or email social@regattapoint.co.uk

See you there!
