Front door re-instated

Dear Residents,

Today the front door intercom system has been fully re-instated following the fire.

You should now be able to open the front door remotely, by pressing  on your phone, when a caller dials your flat number from the front door entry panel.

Please take a few minutes to test that this is working for your flat.  If it is not working correctly, please contact Neil, our caretaker, who will help in getting this issue resolved.

It is quite possible that the system needs re-programming with your telephone number so please bring that information with you.

Our sincere apologies for the delay in getting this fixed but the infrastructure was old and poorly understood.

Yours Sincerely,

Lyndsey

Garden contract update

Below are notes from a meeting between RP directors and the Gardeners to review the contract after the first three months.

Mike Crump, Chairman Regatta Point Directors

Stephanie Henderson-Brown, Regatta Point Director

James Mallet, Gavin Jones Gardeners

James confirmed that he will be accompanied by a another experienced gardener, Eric, as from early July.

Decking Plants – the box bushes have dried out and will  be disposed of, James will enquire as to the best type of plants to replace them. MC to pursue suitable plant pots once decided. The dead leaves will be removed from the potted palms by James and he will remind Neil, our caretaker, to water the decking plants regularly.

Watering the lawns – there has been some miscommunication as Neil should not be watering them through the night. The lawns will be scarified and mulched during August, after the Regatta Point party, as it will temporarily look rather brown during this treatment.

James will remove the worst of the overgrown weeds in the rear garden beds, particularly by the path near to the back gate, and mow the lawn slopes. He will also remove the weeds from the car park walls

The lavender in the rear lawns  has only partially been removed, the rest of the dead lavender will be taken out. To supplement the lavender, another yew hedge will be planted which will survive in the poor soil conditions. The new yew hedge will be planted from the south side flower bed to the first maple tree in order to balance with the existing yew hedge.

At present some of the car park trees have only been half pruned, but they will be completely pruned back next year

The front borders either side of the entrance door will take priority with a new  planting plan. The small annual bedding plants will be removed and replaced with both perennial ground cover and new bushes. James will submit a plan and photographs as soon as possible.

James will supply us with a formalised 3 monthly maintenance and planting plan.

Lift C Out of Order

As residents in block C will be aware – the lift is out of action.  This is because the infra-red sensor finally gave up the ghost on Wednesday and could not be repaired.  The unit is no longer made so we have had to order a new type of sensor.  This will be fitted as soon as possible and we hope that it will be done by Friday.

Regatta Point Directors.

The Green Green Grass of Home

Hopefully residents will have noticed a significant improvement in the gardens at Regatta Point recently.  The removal of a significant amount of weeds, lawns being edged, hedges trimmed, old plants removed and others re-located.  All of this is as a consequence of our new gardening contract which requires a rolling programme of improvements.

The programme has only just started but we hope you can see things are better already.  Our new gardener is called James and if you see him in the gardens please feel free to let him know that you appreciate his good work.

James has asked that we help him improve the lawns by giving them a thorough soaking.  As a consequence you will notice that the sprinkler system is going to be turned on a lot over the next few weeks and sometimes left on overnight – this is intentional.  However, it should not be on over the weekends, when residents are most likely to use the gardens.  If you see the water left on at the weekend, please feel free to turn it off.  We will put a notice on the tap if it is on for a special reason.

Home fire safety guide

In light of the recent fire, the London Fire Brigade kindly distributed advice notices to all flats (they were dropped in your pigeon hole last week).

Our web pages will be updated to reflect the advice and a soft copy of the file is available here.

Home fire safety guide for purpose-built flats and maisonettes

Please take time to read the advice as sometimes it is best to stay inside your flat and sometimes it is best to leave.

Ask yourself if your are prepared for a fire breaking out inside your own flat and have working detectors fitted.

New signs are going to be installed throughout Regatta Point in the near future.  Look out for them and familiarise yourself with your escape route.
