Sorry to have to report that there was another attempt to steal bikes from Regatta Point at about half past eight on Monday Bank Holiday evening.

However, the attempt was foiled by some excellent response from residents who challenged the thieves in the car park and they were joined by shouts from other residents as they saw events unfold. The police were called. We managed to get some clear photographs of the individuals. We have good cctv and the panicked thieves left their own bikes behind! The police have taken them away for forensic investigation.

Whilst we must emphasis residents must never put themselves in danger it is also good to know that we don’t feel we have to take this lying down and the Directors are very grateful for everyone’s response.

We are going to review the bike storage (80% of which have flat tyres which indicates they are abandoned) and carry out some radical thinking about this facility which does tend to invite trouble.
