St. George’s Liaison Meeting – February 2016

On Thursday the 11th of February George Cross (RP Director), Mo Bowyer (RP Resident), Stephen Angell (Boat Owner) and Sean Chappell (Senior Construction Manager, St George) held one of their regular liaison meetings – the aim of which is to raise any issues with the development next door and for St George’s to keep us abreast with progress.

Apologies for Absence: Malcolm Wood (Land Director, St George)

The following are highlights of the meeting:

  • The development is moving towards a completion date of end of June 2016. More areas have already been opened up to the public and the commercial units are soon expected to have a Solicitors, Alternative Therapist and a Cider & Pizza restaurant.
  • There are now approximately 4 residential units left to sell. The marketing suite building is being demolished and the square will be re-laid as a public space.
  • Discussions with the Council and works contracts are being finalised to re-lay pavements, move bus stops inwards, reduce pavement width by one metre and lower services in order to provide a cycle lane outside St G’s. When the works are being carried out alternative pathways for pedestrians will be available on the front of the development.  This work is expected to start in April and take 12 weeks.
  • The privacy screens on top of the oval building that were initially installed were wrong in their height and opacity. They will be replaced by lower transparent glass.
  • The footpath between the St G’s development and RP (which provides access to the RP car park for boat owners) will be partially opened (river to roadside building but NOT access to road) in the next weeks. Security is to be provided by gates which will lock automatically at dusk and reopen at dawn on a daily basis. St. G will provide RP with key fobs in the next few days.  These will be issued By RP Caretaker to boat owners (to gain access to car park during night time hours) in exchange for the RP keys that have been allotted.
  • As St G’s completes the building that abuts RP, they will be moving the stairs and goods elevator next to RP. They hope to avoid encroaching on RP land but this will result in closure of the alleyway that runs alongside RP, and retention of hoarding, until the very end of the project.  RP will be contacted if requirements change.
  • As St G’s vacate the development RP’s primary contact going forward will be Premier Estates who operate the site on StG’s behalf. First point of contact should be via the concierge.

Next meeting Thursday 26th May 2016 08:30am.  Potentially the last ever meeting
