Lift B working

We are pleased to inform residents that the lift in block B is now working again.

This was possible thanks to the priority given to the work from our lift maintenance company Arrow.  Arrow were on site quickly, identified there was a major fault and air-freighted spare parts from Italy.  The engineer was on-site late last night in order to restore service.  This lift was treated as especially urgent because one of our residents relies on it  since she is unable to use the stairs.

However, service could have been restored sooner if the resident who first got trapped in the lift had reported it immediately.  In future, if you find a major problem in the flats please report it to our caretaker or call the out of ours service provided by HML Shaws (0345 268 0272).

We also have to report that the failed part was a major component of the lift (pump/motor) and has cost Regatta Point over £6,000.  This raises concerns over the condition of the other lifts, which are now nearly 20 years old.  We are therefore commissioning an engineering inspection of all lifts so as to ascertain their condition and determine if preventative maintenance is required.

Lift B out of order

Some residents may already be aware that Lift B is out of order.  This is due to a failure of the motor/pump combination.  The engineers are expected to investigate the precise details of the fault today (Saturday) and will order any replacement parts on Monday.

Unfortunately, we do not know how quickly these parts can be delivered and fitted but we are pressing for the repairs to be completed as soon as possible.

We will let you know dates when we have them.

Fire Evacuation Plan

The Directors thought it might be a sensible idea to remind all residents what to do in the case of a fire at Regatta Point.  As such, we are sending this link to the RP Fire Evacuation Plan so that you can be prepared for just such an emergency.  Obviously, we hope you never have to use the plan but it is always worth spending a little time thinking about what you would do.

Residents’ Briefing Summary

Thank you to all those who attended the Annual Residents’ Briefing on the 13th of December.  It was a great opportunity for the Directors to get some feedback and for ideas to be exchanged.

The main actions that were noted are:

  • The window design needs to be kept simple and the vertical design is preferred
  • The windows project as a whole needs to keep a tight rein on costs
  • Can we explore the costs of improving the ventilation in the gym refurbishment
  • Can we explore the idea of a small fridge and/or tea making facilities in the guest rooms

A copy of the slides that were presented can be found here…

Disposal of Christmas Trees

Now we know that you’ve only just put the things up – but when it comes time to take your Christmas Tree down, in the new year, we have arranged for them to be collected and disposed of on behalf of Regatta Point.

This facility is only available if you leave the trees in car park space sixty-four (64) on Tuesday the 3rd or Tuesday the 10th of January.

Please do not leave trees in the bin cupboards as they will not be automatically collected and we will be forced to use the CCTV to identify culprits and charge for their disposal.
